Nils Hermann Ranum is Special Advisor on Norwegian policy at Rainforest Foundation Norway. Between 2023 and 2026 he served as Special Envoy on Climate and Forests at Norway’s Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he followed the bilateral partnership between Indonesia and Norway on forest protection, and issues related to forests and indigenous peoples and local communities more broadly.

Prior to this, he worked more than two decades with Rainforest Foundation Norway, including in management positions, and has played a key role in building the organisation’s advocacy work in Norway and globally.
