Ren Peng
Ren Peng is a sustainable development and environmental management expert who currently serves as Programme Director at the Global Environmental Institute in China. In this role, he focuses on Chinese overseas investments (infrastructure and energy), green Belt and Road initiatives, ESG management, and agricultural and forestry product trade between China and markets in Africa and South America.
Spanning regions including Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, Ren Peng has accumulated extensive experience through field research and collaboration efforts. He has spearheaded numerous research and policy advocacy, contributing to key publications such as "Environmental Protection Policies for Chinese Overseas Investments" (2010) and "Going Global: Environmental and Social Challenges of Chinese Overseas Investments, Trade, and Aid" (2013). His leadership was instrumental in promoting the formulation and publication of China's first guidelines for environmental cooperation in overseas economic engagements.
Ren Peng is also a member of the Green Investment and Trade Professional Committee of the China Environmental Science Society, as well as a supporting expert in the Green Value Chain Working Group of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development. His contributions extend to writing articles for publications such as the China Daily Observation Think Tank and the Wilson Center New Security Beat, focusing on topics such as green BRI and sustainable supply chains for soft commodities.
