Knut Lakså
Head of Programmes
Knut Lakså is Head of Programmes at Future Horizons Institute. Knut brings over 20 years of experience in international development, with a focus on climate change adaptation, sustainable development, and impact investment. He has worked extensively across Latin America, Mozambique, the SADC region, and the Middle East, primarily with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norad, and as a former lead for KPMG’s Private Sector Development and Climate team (2017-2022). His expertise includes sustainable value chains, green and blue economy initiatives, and social safeguards. Currently based in Brazil, Knut advises on sustainable investment strategies to promote Brazil’s bioeconomy, with a focus on responsible cattle production and financial services.
As a co-author of Future Horizons Institute’s policy brief for the G20 in Brazil, Knut has actively contributed to discussions on sustainable commodity production and climate resilience. His recent work includes advising the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) on research proposals related to sustainable trade. Knut also collaborates with NORCAP on climate change adaptation projects, leveraging private sector partnerships to enhance climate resilience.
Knut holds an MA in Social Anthropology and is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Norwegian.
